**Note: Snowmaking starts before the season and typically ends in January BUT our Snowmakers can transfer to another department once snowmaking is completed to finish out the season.

Role Overview:
Snowmakers are the team that makes the season possible, building and maintaining the snow base that ensures excellent skiing and riding conditions throughout the season. This is a physically demanding, outdoor position that runs from late October through early to mid-January, with opportunities to transfer into another department for the remainder of the winter.
In this role, you’ll work hands-on with snowmaking equipment across the mountain: setting it up, operating and monitoring systems, and troubleshooting when conditions change. Success requires physical stamina, comfort working in extreme weather, and the flexibility to cover rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The work is tough but rewarding, offering a unique chance to be part of the behind-the-scenes crew that brings the season to life.
Responsibilities
- Snowmaking Operations: Prepare, operate, and shut down snowmaking systems according to company standards and safety procedures.
- Equipment Setup & Maintenance: Set up, break down, and perform routine inspections on snow guns, hoses, and related equipment. Assist with minor repairs and troubleshooting as needed.
- Equipment Operation: Safely use shovels, hoses, hydrants, and other tools to ensure effective snow production. Transport equipment using trucks, snowmobiles, side-by-sides, and other vehicles on variable terrain.
- Snow Quality Monitoring: Continuously check snow conditions and make necessary adjustments to equipment to optimize snow quality and efficiency.
- Mountain Knowledge: Develop an understanding of mountain layout, snowmaking routes, and snowmobile safety.
- Safety & Hazard Awareness: Recognize, communicate, and respond to hazards in the snowmaking system and mountain environment.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with fellow snowmakers to complete tasks efficiently and support overall mountain operations.
- Other Duties: Participate in cross-department support as needed and perform other assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain) required.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. and carry up to 40 lbs. frequently lift, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. individually or with assistance.
- Must be in good physical condition, with the ability to stand, kneel, bend, reach, and work on uneven/slippery terrain for extended periods.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, often in wet, cold, or hot environments, using appropriate protective gear.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and in potentially loud environments.
NOTE:
Work Environment: This position involves working outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, on varied snow surfaces, and requires being on your feet for most of the scheduled shift.
Physical and Mental Demands: This position works primarily outside and requires prolonged periods of standing and walking on slippery and/or uneven snow or icy surfaces. Must always remain alert and attentive. Must lift up to 50 pounds and be able to twist, turn and drag equipment.
