WE WANT FALL FUN WEATHER!

Snowflake Separator icon

Mother Nature finally will cooperate this weekend! (HOPEFULLY)

Once the calendar flipped from August to September it seems that the work weeks have been great while the weekends have been less than desirable.  Nothing we can do about it but I truly enjoy fall and all that it brings – football, apples, autumnal colors, and yes I do enjoy a good ole Pumpkin Spiced Latte as well.  I also do enjoy a Pumpkin Beer, Donut, Pie….  Don’t hate on the gourd.

This weekend though as of Monday it appears that autumn will show up and that we’ll have beautiful fall weather on hand for what should be a fun one.  We’re pleased to work with the Granite Peak Ski Team to host two of their biggest fundraising events of the season.  The Casino Night and the Ski Swap, held for the first time on the same weekend!  Our scenic chairlift rides will be taking place with our typical schedule of Friday, 4pm – 7pm and Saturday/Sunday 11am – 5pm.

In addition, we’ll have live music from 2pm – 5pm on Saturday afternoon with Brad Emanuel on the Historic Deck and our very own retail manager, Vicki, will have beautiful mums for sale too. For those of you who are season passholders swing by our office on Saturday and pick up a limited edition free poster!

Let me plan out your weekend:

  1. Gamble for a good cause.  Win great prizes on Friday night.
  2. Visit the ski swap and sell/purchase some gear for another good cause.
  3. Take a scenic chairlift ride
  4. Pick up your Season Pass – receive a free poster
    1. If you already have your season pass we’ll give you a poster too!
  5. Enjoy some music and a beverage on the deck with Brad and friends with plenty of fire tables.

For those of you wondering what happened to the 5k we opted not to host it as Iron Bull is doing an Ultra Trail Race (15k,25k,40k) that comes through Granite Peak and Rib Mountain as well.  We did not want to interfere or potentially have confusion for athletes so we decided to forego the event.

Brad Saturdays in Historic for Winter

We made the decision this year to go with one primary apres entertainer for the season and that is going to be Brad Emanuel.  We love his music, his energy and he’s also local to Wausau.  Brad will be performing in Historic Chalet most Saturdays from 2pm – 6pm starting in December.

Capital Updates

The team has been working hard all summer long and projects are getting finalized this fall.  Our Administration Building has received an expansion and we now have a completely new entrance for Ski School with a larger space for Guest Services.

The Tuning shop moved from the back (parking lot side) of the building to the front and will have it’s own entrance and window.  Tuning is also slated to open this Friday!  Make sure your skis are ready to go day one and visit Dustin and Aiden in the shop.

The fire that took place in May is actively getting repaired and we’ve been working with WPS, Van Ert Electric and others to get our system back up and running.  That building may have had a small footprint but it was a pretty big part of our system.  Our snow surfaces manager Peter has been hard at work project managing getting all of our systems back up and operational by the time we wish to make snow which is only a few weeks away now!

The Historic Bathrooms are also getting a complete facelift and upgrade.  The new lower level bathrooms will provide more stalls and easier access to guests from the base area.

Five new SMI Tower Guns were already installed in the area of Sky High, Aspen, Lower Duskey, Miracle and Birch to help make snow in this wide open area where all of these trails converge under the Comet 6.

Don’t forget that season passes are still on sale and you can score passes at their lowest prices now until October 15, 2022.  If you are interested in upgrading into a Legendary Season Pass (that now includes Snowriver Mountain Resort) we will be happy to do that for you.  If you purchased prior to April 30th the pass is $799 / Post April 30th $899.  Just pay the difference by calling our office at 715-845-2846.

Hope you can join us this weekend for some of the fun activities we have going on or in the near future.  Snowmaking is potentially less than 50 days away!

Greg
