Trails
Opening weekend was a blast and it was amazing to welcome so many of you back and see the faces we have all been missing since last April. Snowmaking returned this week and the team has been hard at work getting every last flake out of our snowmaking guns and onto the trails. Here’s what’s going on.
Snowmaking Pushing West then East
Snowmaking continues to expand and we will open new terrain this weekend including Exhibition, Carmie’s, High Traverse, and there is a good chance Miracle will open Saturday. Snowmaking will continue on Birch, Upper Duskey, Sky High, Lower Duskey, Aspen, and more this weekend as temps on Saturday will be chilly. Next week also looks fantastic for our boys to keep the guns working as we march East to Cupid starting next week.
Below is a map of what will be open starting Saturday 12/2/22. Green open, blue snowmaking, purple possible (still need to do some work there). Friday please stick to the trails that were open last weekend as groomers will be out during the day moving snow around. Friday looks like a beautiful day to ski with temps in the 40s!
Next Week — Cold & East We Go
Once we complete the area in blue and purple on the map above (likely this weekend), we will begin our march East toward Cupid. Temperatures again next week look pretty darn cold as of now so I’m excited to keep pushing. It is a process for sure but our goals are always to open more terrain each weekend.
Sundance Concert Series Event #1 – FOOL HOUSE – 21+ Saturday Night
We are thrilled to once again host Fool House for our first in three concert series events to take place in Sundance throughout the season. This show is sold out and is 21+ only. Due to the concert taking place in Sundance the Historic Chalet will be open for guests on Saturday starting at 3pm with the Bar and a limited menu out of our Snack Shack that will include pizza, pretzels, hot dogs, and brats. Sundance will close at 7pm to prepare for the concert and ticketed guests only.
Hours of Operation & Facilities
We are back to our early season hours 9am – 9pm Friday – Sunday then four more days of closure while we continue to make snow. We’ll be open daily starting Friday 12/9/22 as long as the forecast holds with the snowmaking plans we have. The bathrooms in Lower Historic are now complete (minus a few minor touches) and will be open for use this weekend starting Saturday. We can’t thank Ghidorzi Companies, PGA, Hurtis Heating & Cooling along with the many other contractors that worked on these. They turned out great and will be a welcomed addition to our property. Sorry I don’t take photos of toilets. You’ll have to go check them out yourself.
See you on the slopes.
Greg – Granite Peak GM
Thanks for the update. Can’t wait to hit the slopes. I eagerly check the snow cams at least 3-5 times a week.
Thanks Zac. More terrain coming.
Really excited for the slopes Greg!!
How likely White Wolf and Mission Ridge will be open for Next Saturday (Dec 10th)?
Not very likely but we should be making snow in the East this week. Opportunity to get to Cupid is there but it takes a good amount of snow and grooming to open up terrain. I think you’ll see trails like Carver, Superstition down to the green terrain prior to Whitewolf and Mission Ridge. Look for those to open up sometime between next weekend and the 17th if the weather cooperates. We are a big property with lots of firepower but it still takes an army and plenty of planning.
Will Cupid open tomorrow (12/22/22)? I was told earlier this week when booking lodging both Cupid and Dasher would be open 12/22-12/24. Sounds like this is not going to happen anymore?? We will cancel our trip if only one of the three primary lifts are open with limited access to partial terrain. What date will Cupid open? The confusion is making planning difficult.
Cupid is getting cleaned today from all the snowmaking and our plans are to have it spinning by the weekend although we do have Blizzard like conditions coming in the next few days which may impact lift operations. A week without snowmaking temperatures set us back where we wanted to be at this time but the snow conditions on the hill are phenomenal and we will have the most terrain open acreage wise open in Wisconsin for the holidays.
