Spring can be awesome.  It also can be finicky.  It can also be wintery.  The saying goes March comes in like a Lion and out like a lamb.  April showers bring May flowers.  Etc.  It all can happen once we hit that Spring Equinox.

We’ve seen it just this week with temps in the 50s over the weekend, followed by 1.5″ of rain this week, and now a sloppy snow on top of that, and then followed by more winter like conditions over the weekend. Today our grooming team is out in full force across all of our terrain to get it back to the conditions we wish to provide our guests for the weekend.

“Spring” Fling Weekend – More Like Winter Revival Weekend

We’ve got plenty of fun going on this weekend and while it’s titled Spring Fling it will be more like winter as the temps will be in the mid-30s rather than the 40s or 50s but at least the skies look clear and the sun should be out.

Operations & Weather Ahead

With the changes in the weather come changes in family needs, plans and let’s face it when Major League Baseball has opening day most of the ski industry is either closing up shop or winding down operations with the exception of some of the big resorts out west.

We are no exception to that and I wanted to provide you with our operating plans past the upcoming weekend.

Starting Monday we will be at late season pricing for lift tickets and those rates will remain in effect daily through our planned closing date of Saturday, April 16, 2022. Right now early April looks more like early March with temperatures more winter like than spring which will help keep our snow conditions pretty good for the near future.

Below is our planned schedule for lifts and operational hours for the remainder of the ski season here at Granite Peak. This will be finalized and updated by the weekend.  Of course if the weather looks iffy we’ll make a call the day before and post to our conditions page and also social media channels.   We may also change our operations if we were to get a late snow!  Always check the Conditions PageStarting Monday, March 28 all passes including Bronze will be valid daily.

We will also consolidate our operations to the Historic Chalet moving forward.  We’ve done this for the past week and have had no issues.  We know that the Historic Deck is south facing and is where most people will enjoy some Vitamin D and Goggle Tanning.  BBQs, the Pizza Shack and the indoor food service will be available most weekends and as we approach the last day we may scale that back to just the bar and the outside services.  Again this all is pretty flexible based on weather and business levels.

Hope to see you on the slopes or on the deck or both!

Let’s finish out the season strong!

According to the weather it makes more sense for you to be open Mon and Tuesday the next two weeks and not Wed and Thursday due to rain!
We will not come if raining but would like to come Monday and Tuesday the next 2 weeks but for some reason you are CLOSED.

Mondays and Tuesdays historically are our slowest and this wasn’t a weather driven decision but a business decision due to staffing and other parameters. We can’t control the weather and when we put a plan in place we try to stick to it as much as we can for our staff’s own scheduling.
