No matter where I have been one thing that remains the same - the passion & loyalty shown by season passholders is always amazing. Granite Peak is no different. I have met some amazing people & families from all walks of life here.
Skiing & snowboarding is more like a lifestyle than it is a hobby or a sport to a passholder. It is WINTER. Snow storms are embraced, cold weather in October is welcomed and household chores are typically delayed to get in those first turns on a crisp clear day or a mid-season dump.
This weekend we say thank you for visiting our resort and calling Rib Mountain & Granite Peak home.
Not every resort does something like this and I value all of our guests but our season passholders are visiting on average 10 times or more a season. I have done one of these at all of the resorts I've been associated with and I can honestly tell you that idea and suggestions given by guests have led to some forward thinking, programs and infrastructure. Now not everything of course is feasible to do (adding more vertical through excavation or material is one that I can think of that didn't happen at Mad River Mountain when I was there ) but our team will be available and excited to meet and talk to many.
ALL SEASON PASSHOLDERS ARE WELCOME - VALUE PASSES INCLUDED. Your pass will work this Saturday for the special weekend.
We have a fun rundown of events slated for Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday & Sunday - Granite Peak Ski Team is going to set a Dual Giant Slalom from the "lillypad" (a little further down from the headwall) to the finish line. This will be set up and designed so that you can go head to head with a fellow season passholder or friend. This will be up and running from 10am - 1pm.
Saturday & Sunday - Early lift access. Not anything new but I'll be making turns first thing on Saturday with my son Ronan and we would welcome anyone wishing to ride along with us.
Saturday - Free Hamburgers & Hot Dogs & Soft Drinks. - 12pm - 1:30pm We'll have a fun BBQ set up for passholders to enjoy a hamburger/cheeseburger or hot dog & a drink on us. Many of our Senior Team will be up there flipping burgers, and helping out.
Sunday - 10am I'll be in the Historic Chalet along with our office manager Caitlin & mountain manager Rodney answering questions about some of the things we envision for the future of Granite Peak both winter and summer.
Saturday & Sunday: Season Passholder Raffle. All season passholders can come by the office to pick up 5 tickets each in which they can write their name on and put in a basket for a bunch of cool prizes from Granite Peak. If you can't make the weekend maybe take a listen to this podcast interview I did with the Storm Skiing Journal & Podcast. The first 45 mins is more about my history, Peak Resorts and the East Coast but the 2nd 45 minutes dives into Granite Peak and the culture here. I enjoyed doing it and Stuart is a great journalist.
