This weekend is our last Family Festival & Little Legends program for the season.
When we began the season our Granite Peak took on the challenge of bringing the Ski For Youth Program "in house" as it had been a volunteer program in the past. We offered a similar program with affordable lessons for our local children on late Sunday afternoons. After selling this program out each Sunday we switched to a different style for January & February called Little Legends. Similar concept this program was a three week commitment but again offered up lessons, lift tickets, and rentals for kids 12 & under. Each program sold out and between the three we were happy to help over 250 local youngsters learn the wonderful sports of skiing and snowboarding.
I have nothing but respect for our instructors for taking on such a big task but I also have to give a nod to parents for taking on a new sport to many and getting kids outside this winter. We've seen a big boom in beginner lessons, rentals, and first time visitors this year and many of them are kids.
This weekend we have another beauty on tap with plenty of fun for both kids and adults. Saturday with temperatures in the mid 40s we'll have live music on the Historic Deck complete with a grill and bar. Out on the snow we have Groomer Rides available for kids and parents alike, a fun scavenger hunt and fireworks, Saturday night. Sunday we'll have Groomer Rides again and our fun 12 & under Grommet Jam. Morning practice and afternoon competition. Prizes, tricks and free pizza are the name of the game for the little guys and girls.
The future is bright with plenty of youngsters out on the slopes.
Next week is our Season Passholder appreciation weekend with open style race runs, early lift access, free BBQ, raffle as well as a Q&A on Sunday morning.
See you out there on the slopes!
