Granite Peak, the Midwest's number one family skiing vacation destination, has thousands of loyal customers who return to our slopes year after year. Bringing you a Mountain of Family Fun, with the highest vertical in Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and 75 runs that are equally balanced between beginner, intermediate and expert skiers and boarders, Granite Peak is a favorite among Midwest skiers, particularly skiers from the Chicago area like David Mozinski.
David recently told us, "I travel from Chicago to Granite Peak, because not only is there challenging terrain, but many long cruisers to relax my tired muscles. The steep runs are truly black diamond. The grooming is impeccable. Three high-speed lifts provide access to most of the ski runs."
David recently told us his thoughts about the Wausau area, too. He said, "I tell my friends that Granite Peak is the Lake Tahoe of the Midwest as it overlooks Lake Wausau. The city of Wausau is a 'foodie' area at reasonable prices. The micro beers on tap are local and delicious. There are more than enough above average accommodations at reasonable prices no matter when I go skiing. A week at Granite Peak is one-fifth the cost of a trip to Vail for two people."
But David isn't the only skier in the family. "My wife is an excellent skier and only skies Granite Peak in the Midwest when she is not out West because of the varied and challenging terrain. Granite Peak has more and longer expert areas than most drivable Midwest ski areas. There also are plenty of beginner areas for novice skiers."Granite Peak's loyal skiing and boarding customers truly understand that there's a big difference when it comes to Midwest ski areas, and one of those differences is that Granite Peak is a skiing and boarding destination with tremendous value and affordability.
