Vitamin D, Longer Lifts & the Return of Events

Image of Greg

I've been through some cold stretches in my time but I can honestly say this last one was the longest!

But it is now over!  I've been out skiing the last few days and the sun just makes a world of difference and it that Vitamin D is important.

Tomorrow we are going to be geared up for a big photo shoot out on the mountain so if you see a bunch of peeps out and about in bright colored jackets, starting stopping you know why!

This weekend is lining up to be a busy one as we've already sold out Saturday and we are expecting many to be out after the long cold snap.  The conditions are great and temps should be in the mid 20s all weekend long.  Daylight is lasting a little longer these days and we're doing to operate our lifts a little longer than normal Friday - Sunday.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday -  Comet will open at 8am.  Blitzen we will fire up shortly there after as well.  But don't ski to the far east or west or you'll be stuck!  Keep to Elk, Miracle, Birch, White Lightning, until Blitzen is open to the public.

Cupid & Dasher will open at 9am and the West will stay open until 5:00pm (last lift ride).   It's about two weeks earlier than we'd normally run Dasher this late but I can appreciate some fun skiing in the setting sun on the West and it will give more fun across all of our terrain for as long as possible.

March is my favorite month to ski.  Yes it's on the tail end of the season but you can still get some big snow storms and also have some great sun along with some fantastic soft snow and bumps.  I do love the challenge of moguls and they are best when it's soft.  Daylight Savings rolls back around giving us more light and more time on the snow. It can be some of the best time to learn.

What I also love about March.  Events.

We have been very, very cautious this year in running large scale events with due reason but as we get closer and closer to spring, vaccinations are getting to those who need it the most, and that cases in Wisconsin (especially our area) have been dropping quite dramatically - I'm excited to announce some fun events starting March 4.

These are pretty solidified but we are still working through some things and we'll be sure to update our site and social media channels once things are finalized!  One thing I know is that our team was pretty excited about the Cardboard Cup at the end of the March!  My son Ronan is too.

Hope to see you out on the hill!  - Greg
