TOP APRÈS SKI SPOTS IN THE GREATER WAUSAU AREA

9 venues for a good time and great refreshments after skiing and riding

If you’re looking for places to keep the fun flowing after a day on the slopes, here’s a list of local spots that we think you’ll like in the Greater Wausau Area:

1. Sundance Chalet at Granite Peak

Not only do we have downhill fun, but we bring it all winter long with toe tapping, hip slapping live music from the Sundance stage. From Brad Emanuel’s country tunes to 80’s rock ‘n roll and 90’s dance parties, a variety of great performers whip up the dance floor to make our concert series the best party in town. https://www.skigranitepeak.com/events]

2. Hilton Garden Inn & Igloo Experience

Overlooking the beauty of Rib Mountain State Park and Granite Peak Ski Area, the Hilton gleams an upscale ski lodge vibe the moment you enter the lobby and head over to the bar. Step outside for the Igloo experience and enjoy a meal and drinks surrounded in plush fur pillows and cozy blankets. Reservations are required for Igloos that can seat up to six. 3. Mountain View Bar & Grill

Not far from Granite Peak is this local establishment where dollar beer deals rule. Cozy up by patio firepits outside with a view of the mountain or watch the game and grab a bite to eat inside. [insert link: https://www.facebook.com/wiMountainView/]

4. Timekeeper Distillery

Step back in time at this Wausau distillery located in the old Milwaukee Road Train depot and enjoy craft cocktails and spirits distilled in small batches right on site--you might even get a tour. Stop by Thursday evenings for live music, bourbon and charcuterie. [insert link: https://www.timekeeperdistillery.com]

5. Day’s Bowl-a-Dome

Grab a cold one at the longest bar in town and let the good times roll during open bowling. Rock N’ Bowl on Friday and Saturday nights from 9:30 p.m. until midnight for $10 a person. [insert link: https://www.daysbowl.com]

6. Malarkey’s Pub & Townies Grill

Located in the heart of downtown Wausau, Malarkey’s has 16 micro-brews on tap and a trove of signature cocktails. Bring your appetite for fish tacos, bratwurst bites and the popular loaded Bloody Mary. There’s frequently live music. [insert link: http://www.malarkeyspub.com]

7. The Domino Bar

If you like hot toddies, don’t miss this stop for the best Tom & Jerry ever! The closely guarded secret recipe is prepared only by owner Dan. You won’t get a copy of his prized potion, but bartenders will happily serve up the creamy rum and brandy concoction in a funky Christmas mug. They also offer a full menu, including lots of appetizers. [insert link: https://www.facebook.com/TheDominoBarWausau]

8. Sconni’s Alehouse & Eatery

Get a big taste of Wisconsin right here with hand-crafted old fashioneds and over 45 draft beers while playing pool at one of their many tables in back. Their menu is loaded with locally sourced, fresh ingredients and one-of-a-kind dishes. [insert link: http://www.sconnis.com]

9. Mosinee Brewing Company

Meet up for board games, brews and live music at this sophisticated yet comfortable hangout with its own brewery, tap room and spacious bar. Try the IGA IPA, which is a respectful nod to the supermarket that once operated in the historic red brick building. Non-alcoholic favorites include kombucha, root beer and locally brewed nitro coffee. [insert link: http://www.sconnis.com]
